  • The Former External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj passed away at AIIMS in Delhi on August 6, 2019. She suffered a cardiac arrest.

  • The Jammu and Kashmir Reorganisation Bill was moved in Lok Sabha, already passed in Rajya Sabha.

  • Two mass shooting within 13 hours shocked the United States. The first incident occurred on August 3, 2019, when a gunman opened fire and killed 22 people at a Walmart store in the Texas border city El-Paso. The second incident occurred in Ohio when a gunman opened fired in the downtown district of Ohio killing 9 people wounding 26 others.

  • Australia's largest superannuation fund AustralianSuper and Ontario Teachers' Pension Plan have signed agreements with the National Investment and Infrastructure Fund (NIIF) of India for investments up to $ 1 billion each in NIIF's Master Fund.

  • Sally Pearson, Australia's reigning world champion announced her surprise retirement on August 6, 2019, due to persistent injuries.

  • The Central Government has approved Rs. 4900 crore for Kosi-Mechi interlinking project in Bihar. It is the Government's second river interlinking project after the Ken-Betwa project in Madhya Pradesh.

  • DRDO successfully test-fired Quick Reaction Surface to Air Missile (QRSAM) against live aerial target at Chandipur in Odisha on August 4, 2019.

  • India slips to 7th spot on GDP ranking of 2018. UK and France moved ahead securing their places at 5th and 6th spot.

  • Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be featured in an episode of Man vs Wild with Bear Grylls on Discovery Channel. The episode was shot in Jim Corbet National Park, Uttarakhand and will be on Air on August 12, 2019.

  • The Indian Army launched e-cars in New Delhi on August 1, 2019, for use of its officials. It is launched in partnership with Energy Efficiency Service Limited in a joint venture of Central PSU under the Ministry of Power.

  • Netherland imposes burqa and niqab ban in public places from August 1, 2019.

  • The sixth of eight indigenously built Landing Craft Utility (LCU) MK IV class ships 'LCU L 56' was commissioned into the Indian Navy by Vice Admiral Atul Kumar Jain, Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief (FOC-in-C), Eastern Naval Command, on July 29, 2019, at Visakhapatnam.
